Situated on the once visited, never forgotten Windermere Island, a peaceful private island joining Eleuthera by bridge. Eleuthera itself is one of the outlying 'family islands' of the Bahamas, that are characterized by unspoilt, uncrowded beaches, ancient coral reefs and gigantic star fish.

A Masterpiece
Inspired by the Egyptian temple of King Zoser David Hicks’s house, Savannah, on Windermere Island will always stand out. Initially provoking great astonishment this later turned into universal admiration.
In such contrast to any other home, hotel or guest house for miles around this home is now a landmark.
Savannah’s storm-safe concrete-block walls are coated with plaster mixed with honey-colored limestone dust, textured with seashells and sand from the island.
Peace + Privacy
The grand entry leads through to a screened porch and dining area. To the right stands the master bedroom and to the left a double bunk bedroom. The large high-ceilinged living room is soft and cool with bold sculptural paintings dominating the walls. Another guest room leads off to one side of this and the kitchen to the other. A detached guest pavilion stands to the right of the house. All rooms are air-conditioned with ensuite bathrooms. With two king bedrooms, one double twin and four bunk beds the house sleeps 10 comfortably.
Beaches + Lagoons
There is a private path down to the five miles of deserted golden sand beach. Or a short walk brings you to the sheltered lagoon. There is also The Home Owners Club next door to our property, which in season has a restaurant and year-round there is a large swimming pool and two tennis courts. There is a daily housekeeper and with notice a cook can be arranged.
About Windermere Island
Hideaway
A complete Robinson Crusoe experience, but don’t panic the nearby Club At Windermere has a bar and restaurant open November to May and a swimming pool and tennis courts available all year round. The nearest supermarkets are 10 minutes by car. A cook and/or babysitter are available if required, the daily maid service is included in the rental. Grocery shopping ready for your arrival can be done by arrangement with the caretaker. Several local-style restaurants are within 30 minutes drive. Flights from Miami, Fort Lauderdale or Nassau fly daily into Governor's Harbour or Rock Sound airports, 40 minutes drive away. Car rental is readily available.
Local attractions on Eleuthera such as the spectacular Glass Window Bridge and Hatchet Bay Caves are well worth a visit.
